STEM at the Preserve

This Saturday at Harvest Square Nature Preserve, families are invited to celebrate National Public Lands Day with a blend of science, nature, and hands-on fun—perfect for budding scientists and curious minds of all ages!
What really sets this event apart: it kicks off with a ribbon cutting at 10 AM and then rolls right into a jam-packed schedule of activities. You’ll find interactive STEM exhibits (think touch-and-learn displays!), arts and crafts, guided hikes, bird watching (scopes and binoculars provided), and plenty of nature journaling opportunities.
These are the highlights that jumped out at me:
- Fishing on-site (all gear provided, though anyone age 16–64 needs to bring a fishing license)
- Live Raptor presentation from Rise Raptor
- Master Gardener demos
- Food and drinks will be available, plus free treats for the first 100 guests—because learning is always better with a snack in hand!
It’s completely free to attend, sponsored by some great community partners who care about outdoor learning. Whether you’ve got kids who love science or just want to spend a gorgeous weekend morning in nature, there’s something here for everyone.
