Adult and Kids Capoeira Classes
Every Saturday at Lowe Mill, families can step into the vibrant world of Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian art form that weaves together martial arts, dance, and music into something entirely its own. The adult class at 11am welcomes participants of all experience levels to learn fluid movements, acrobatic sequences, and the cultural traditions behind this energetic practice. Set to live percussion and call-and-response rhythms, it's both a workout and a window into a rich cultural heritage. Then at noon, kids get their turn to flip, kick, and groove through their own age-appropriate introduction to the same traditions. Classes meet at Saturn Jive Dance Space in Studio 2008 at Lowe Mill. Admission is $10 for students and $15 for general admission. While the kids' class is designed for ages 5-14, the adult session is open to anyone ready to move—parents can take the earlier class while older kids join them, or the whole family can make it a back-to-back Saturday tradition. Young participants will build coordination, confidence, and discipline while learning the fundamental movements of Capoeira in a playful, supportive environment. Wear comfortable clothes that allow for plenty of movement, and come ready to clap, sing, and maybe cartwheel. It's a wonderful way to introduce children to a global art form while they're having too much fun to realize they're also learning focus and respect.
