Little Monsters Mash
Little Monsters Mash at Huntsville Botanical Garden offers families a gentler Halloween celebration perfectly suited for younger children who might find traditional spooky events overwhelming. This daytime festival transforms the Garden into a costume-friendly wonderland where kids can trick-or-treat along the Scarecrow Trail, decorate pumpkins, bounce in inflatables, and dance to live DJ music. Parents will appreciate that the emphasis is on fun rather than frights, with activities like complimentary face painting, balloon twisting, and lawn games creating a welcoming atmosphere for children ages 3-14 and their grown-ups. The event runs from 10:00 AM on October 10, 2026, at the Huntsville Botanical Garden on Bob Wallace Avenue. Advanced tickets cost $12 for Garden members and $22 for non-members, with day-of prices slightly higher. Children 2 and under attend free, and Museums For All participants can purchase $3 tickets at the admissions desk with valid EBT cards. Costume contests take place throughout the morning—at 11:00 AM for most creative homemade costumes, noon for best family group costumes, and 12:45 PM for best character costumes—giving families multiple chances to show off their Halloween creativity. Food and seasonal snacks will be available for purchase. Since this outdoor event spans several hours, dress comfortably for October weather and bring a camera to capture memories at the harvest photo stops scattered throughout the Garden. Parents of younger children will find the event ideal for establishing new fall traditions without the intensity of evening trick-or-treating, while older elementary-aged kids can enjoy the independence of navigating activities with friends. Your ticket purchase supports the Garden's nonprofit mission and educational programs.
