Monthly Girl Jam

The Huntsville Traditional Music Association opens its doors each month for Girl Jam, a welcoming acoustic music circle where female musicians gather to play, sing, and share their love of traditional tunes. Whether you're an experienced picker or just learning your first chords, this supportive session invites women and girls of all ages and skill levels to bring their instruments—guitars, banjos, fiddles, mandolins, ukuleles, or just their voices—and join in the fun. The focus is on connection and community rather than polish, creating a comfortable space where musical expression flourishes naturally. Girl Jam takes place at Studio 1038 inside Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment on the second Thursday of each month at 3 p.m., and admission is free. Participants are encouraged to come with a few favorite songs ready to share, though you're welcome to simply listen and learn if you're more comfortable starting that way. The informal jam format means tunes are called out and played together in a circle, allowing everyone to contribute at their own comfort level.
