Witches Collegium

The Witches Collegium returns to Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment for a day of creative enchantment that's perfect for families with kids ages 5 through 14. Hosted by Sparkle Studios in Studio 103, this free Halloween event transforms the entire arts center into a magical playground where young witches and wizards can explore 47 artist studios through a building-wide scavenger hunt. What started as a whimsical experiment in 2022 has evolved into a beloved community tradition that blends art-making, imagination, and just enough spooky fun to feel special without being scary. The festivities take place on Halloween day from 11:00 AM onward at Lowe Mill, giving families a daytime alternative to evening trick-or-treating. Kids can drop in for free classes, join a costumed Witch's Walk through the building, and enter daily door prize drawings. Many of the participating studios will offer pop-up activities and immersive experiences designed specifically for the event, so there's plenty to discover as you wander from room to room. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Since the scavenger hunt spans multiple floors and dozens of studios, comfortable shoes are a must. Younger children will enjoy the magical atmosphere and simpler activities, while older kids can take on the full scavenger hunt challenge. The event's structure allows families to stay as long as they'd like—whether that's a quick hour of exploring or an entire afternoon of creative play.
