HPD and Huntsville Parks: Recreation Halloween Party
The Huntsville Police Department teams up with Parks & Recreation for their annual Halloween celebration, bringing together trunk-or-treating, bounce houses, and carnival games in a safe, welcoming environment. This free community event strikes a nice balance — festive enough to feel special, but not so spooky that younger trick-or-treaters will be scared. While costumes are welcome, nobody needs to stress if you're coming straight from soccer practice or just want to wear regular clothes. The party runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Jaycee Community Building in John Hunt Park, with no admission charge. Food trucks will be on-site if your crew gets hungry, and the variety of activities means families can stay for just an hour or settle in for the full evening. The event is geared toward kids ages 3 to 14, so expect a crowd that ranges from preschoolers clutching their first Halloween bags to middle schoolers who still enjoy a good bounce house when no one's looking. Plan to arrive closer to 6 p.m. if your younger children want first crack at the trunk-or-treat candy before the crowds build. Bring a flashlight for evening visibility in the parking areas, and consider a light jacket — late October evenings in Huntsville can get chilly once the sun goes down. With police officers and parks staff running the show, parents can relax knowing it's a well-organized event where community safety is the top priority.
