Trick or Treat Halloween Birdhouse Gourd Class
Creative kids and their grownups will love this hands-on Halloween craft class where they'll transform real birdhouse gourds into festive seasonal decorations. At Cassie Wren Gibbs' studio inside Lowe Mill, families can paint their gourds in any Halloween style they choose — whether that's classic jack-o'-lantern vibes, friendly ghosts, witchy motifs, or something completely original. Each gourd comes already prepped and ready to paint, so you can focus on the fun part. The class welcomes both beginners and experienced young artists, with step-by-step guidance provided throughout. It's a perfect activity for kids ages 5-14 who enjoy getting their creative energy out before the big candy-collecting night arrives. The class takes place on Saturday, October 17 at 1:00 PM at Studio 115 in Lowe Mill, and costs $75 per participant. That fee covers your gourd, all painting supplies, instruction, and refreshments including scratch-made sweet treats and tea. You'll leave with a finished piece that's ready to display at home throughout the season. No prior painting experience is needed — the instructor walks everyone through the process while participants enjoy the festive atmosphere and homemade goodies. Plan for an afternoon of creativity rather than a quick drop-in. Since gourds are natural materials with interesting textures and shapes, each one becomes truly unique. Kids who love seasonal crafts, painting projects, or just want to make something special for Halloween will find plenty to enjoy here. Consider bringing inspiration photos if your child has a specific vision in mind, though plenty of ideas will be shared during class.
