Outdoor Recreation Fair
If your family has been looking for a reason to swap screen time for green time, the Outdoor Recreation Fair at The Orion Amphitheater is designed to help you discover your next favorite outdoor pursuit. Hosted by The Orion and the Land Trust of North Alabama, this free community gathering introduces families to the surprising variety of ways to explore North Alabama's rivers, mountains, lakes, and trails—from bouldering and bird-watching to activities you might never have considered. Whether you're seasoned campers or complete beginners, there's something here to match every family's comfort level and curiosity. The fair takes place Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 AM at The Orion Amphitheater on Amphitheater Drive. Admission is free for all ages. Under The Dome, guided experiences and educational seminars run every hour on the hour, while the Apollo South area features hands-on activities from local outdoor businesses and conservation nonprofits that families can explore at their own pace. Food trucks and Orion's bars will be on-site serving refreshments throughout the day. This is an ideal outing for families with kids of any age who are ready to try something new together. Younger children will enjoy the variety of stations to visit, while older kids and teens can dive deeper into specific interests during the scheduled seminars. Bring sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and an open mind—you might just leave with plans for your family's next weekend adventure already mapped out.
