Yoga by the River
Start your Saturday morning with a peaceful yoga session alongside the Flint River at Hays Nature Preserve. This free outdoor class offers families a chance to stretch, breathe, and connect with nature in one of Huntsville's most scenic spots. The gentle sound of flowing water creates a naturally calming backdrop, whether you're a seasoned yogi or trying your first downward dog. All experience levels are welcome, making it an ideal introduction for kids and adults alike who want to explore mindfulness in a low-pressure setting. Classes run from 8 to 9 am on Saturdays throughout September at Hays Nature Preserve, located at 7161 Hays Preserve Trail SE. There's no cost to participate, and no registration required—just show up with your yoga mat, water bottle, and towel. Signs at the preserve will guide you to the riverside location. Note that there won't be a class on Labor Day weekend (September 5), so mark your calendar for the other weekends in the month. This works well for families with children old enough to follow along with basic poses and hold attention for an hour—typically ages 8 and up do best, though younger siblings are welcome to join if they're interested. Arrive a few minutes early to claim your spot and settle in before class begins. For questions or additional details, contact Kathe at katheleen.theriault@huntsvilleal.gov.
