Ceramics: Hand-building Gnomes
Looking for a creative afternoon that results in a charming garden companion? This hand-building ceramics class at Burritt on the Mountain invites you to craft your own whimsical gnome from scratch. Led by Cate Woodall, an experienced ceramics instructor, the workshop walks participants through forming, detailing, and decorating their creation. Whether you're a complete beginner or simply want to try something new, this two-part class offers a relaxed way to explore clay work while bringing a personality-filled gnome to life. The first session takes place Friday, October 16th from 1:00 to 3:00pm, where you'll shape and detail your gnome. You'll return Sunday, November 1st from 1:00 to 3:00pm to glaze your piece and add the finishing touches. The class costs $75 total, which includes all materials and supplies, and meets at Burritt's historic mountaintop location at 3101 Burritt Drive. Registration closes October 9th at 5:00pm, so plan accordingly. This workshop is designed for adults 19 and older, making it a nice option for parents looking for a creative break or teens eager to try pottery. Even if you've never worked with clay before, Woodall's teaching style focuses on stress-free creativity, so you'll feel supported throughout the process. Just show up ready to get your hands a little dirty — everything else is provided.
