Lets Draw! Pumpkin Edition
Young artists can embrace fall's favorite gourd through the hands-on medium of charcoal drawing at this beginner-friendly class at Lowe Mill. Working with charcoal gives kids ages 5-14 a tactile way to explore shading, dimension, and texture while capturing the curves and character of a pumpkin. No prior drawing experience is necessary — instructor Yuri Ozaki provides step-by-step guidance that helps even the most hesitant young creators feel confident putting charcoal to paper. The class meets on Saturday, October 17, at 2 PM at Studio 310 inside Lowe Mill (2211 Seminole Drive). The $27 fee covers all art supplies, so families can simply show up ready to create. Each participant will complete their own pumpkin drawing to take home, making this a perfect opportunity to capture some of autumn's charm while building new artistic skills. Parents should plan for about an hour of drawing time and know that charcoal can be messy — dress kids in clothes that can handle a bit of smudging. Younger children may need some parental encouragement or assistance, but the forgiving nature of charcoal makes it easier to blend and adjust than many other media. It's a low-pressure creative outlet that celebrates the season while giving kids a new artistic technique to explore.
