Fiber Arts: “Crochet Snowflakes”
Learn the delicate art of crochet lace snowflakes in this immersive Saturday workshop at Burritt on the Mountain. Whether you're picking up a hook for the first time or you already know your way around yarn, this six-hour class offers something for everyone. Instructor Amanda Banks, a local fiber artist who learned traditional Irish crochet from her great-grandmother, will guide participants through the five basic crochet stitches, teach you to read crochet charts, and show you how to block your finished snowflakes into crisp, beautiful shapes. Beginners will build foundational skills while experienced crocheters can experiment with combining stitch patterns to create unique holiday decorations. The workshop takes place Saturday, November 21st from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Burritt on the Mountain, located at 3101 Burritt Drive. The total cost is $100, which includes an $80 tuition fee and a $20 supply fee covering all materials and cotton yarn—you don't need to bring anything but yourself. Registration is open to adults 19 and older, and the deadline to sign up is November 14th at 5:00pm. Plan for a full day of hands-on learning in a supportive environment where heritage craft meets creative expression. Keep in mind that workshop fees include a 25% non-refundable deposit, with full refunds available only for cancellations made 30 days or more before the class date. This policy helps support the instructors who carefully prepare materials and curriculum for each session. By the end of the day, you'll leave with both handmade snowflakes and the skills to create many more throughout the holiday season.
